Hi everyone,
The OceanBase Global Open Source Community team is looking for a Community Intern to join us in building and growing a global developer ecosystem around one of the world's leading open-source distributed databases and the emerging Data4AI (Data Infrastructure for AI) community.
If you're a BFSU student who loves tech, speaks fluent English, and wants to see how a real global open-source community operates — this could be a great fit.
About the team
OceanBase is an open-source distributed database used in production by Ant Group and many enterprises worldwide. Our team runs the global community across APAC, Japan, and North America, covering content strategy, developer relations, events, and ecosystem partnerships. You'll work directly with architects, developer advocates, and external partners like aws.
What you'll do
Event operations — help run tech salons, developer Meetups, and online livestreams end-to-end (planning, promotion, execution, review).
Multi-platform content — publish and maintain content across YouTube, X (Twitter), Discord, and WeChat; help edit technical articles and event posts.
Developer relations — monitor Discord / GitHub / Reddit, collect developer feedback, and compile regular reports.
Creative visuals — design posters, event covers, and social media graphics.
Community growth — track reach / engagement / conversion metrics and support growth initiatives.
Who we're looking for
Currently enrolled undergraduate or above, any major — Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or CS are all welcome.
Fluent written English (this is the must-have — you'll be working in English every day).
Familiar with X, YouTube, Discord, WeChat; prior internship experience in content or event ops is a plus.
Genuine interest in databases, AI infrastructure, or open-source communities.
Strong bilingual writing, good aesthetic sense, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple tasks.
Bonus: comfortable with Canva / Figma / Photoshop.
Logistics
Type: Internship, 6+ months, at least 3 days/week
Location: Beijing
Compensation: Competitive intern salary + official internship certificate
What you'll gain
Hands-on experience running a real global open-source community — not just support work, you'll own content and projects.
Full exposure to the end-to-end pipeline of overseas Meetups, hackathons, and online events.
A view into the world's most active tech markets (APAC, Japan, NA).
A small, lean team where your work actually moves the needle.
